PPSC vs PSSSB: Two Different Punjab Recruiters, Explained

If you're new to Punjab government exam prep, PPSC and PSSSB can look interchangeable from the outside. They're not the same body, and they don't recruit for the same kind of posts.

PPSC — Punjab Public Service Commission

PPSC conducts recruitment for the state's higher administrative, civil service and gazetted posts — the Punjab-level equivalent of what UPSC does at the national level.

PSSSB — Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board

PSSSB recruits for subordinate (non-gazetted) posts across Punjab government departments — clerical, technical and other staff positions, including some teaching-cadre recruitment.

What this means for your prep

The core General Knowledge, Reasoning and Punjabi-language preparation overlaps heavily between the two — it's the same broad competitive-exam skill set. What changes is the specific post-level content and the exact pattern set by that year's notification, which is why we run our PPSC and PSSSB Clerk batches as notification-wise cohorts rather than one fixed syllabus.
